Why We Built Abacus
The genesis of Abacus was direct experience. Our CEO previously served as CIO of a billion-dollar family office, during which his office used a legacy system for wealth tracking at a six-figure annual cost. There were considerable problems: the platform was clunky, the support was offshore and unhelpful, onboarding took six to eight months, and the team had to hire an additional accountant just to manage the system. The total cost of wealth tracking exceeded $200K annually.
We are entering the largest generational wealth transfer in history. Over the next two decades, an estimated $84 trillion will pass between generations. The families navigating that transfer deserve software built specifically for their complexity — not enterprise accounting tools stretched to fit, and not consumer apps that treat $50M like a savings account.
This is why Abacus is a software-plus-service model. We combine purpose-built tracking technology with an in-house White Glove Team of accountants and wealth professionals who do the operational work. Our clients should be focused on stewardship decisions, not data entry.
